[Trade of the Fortnight] The GBP/JPY landslide that had to make you $750*! - 15 Dec 2009

 Trade of the Fortnight!
   Simple Trades that make money

The GBP/JPY landslide that had to make you $750*!
15 Dec 2009

It is time for the favourite season of the year. Christmas carols ringing in the shopping centers and busy shoppers tugging a long list of presents to buy! Traders are also joining in the festive cheer with the deep, almost erratic (to some) swings. One of these trades was last week's GBP/JPY short trade that would have netted you a swift $750 by the time you crawled into bed. Now, a few pairs moved on that very same day, however, this one would have given you the greatest confidence and the least stress.

For those who missed it, you are probably asking how do I spot such trades in the future?

Chart of GBP/JPY

In trading Forex, we always look for reasons NOT to trade, then when we find one that is perfect, we courageously go for it! If all these processes seem confusing for you, you can now learn it all step-by-step, module-by-module.

We offer Singapore's only 8-week Forex Trading Course with a structured curriculum.

No over-inflated promises, no wild claims; only what works and what doesn't to protect and profit you in the Forex Market.

Stop & Smell the Flowers

Many well-meaning people tell us to stop the rush of life and smell the flowers. It is a great recommendation, but how do we go about doing it? Is it as simple as literally canceling a meeting and going for a walk in the garden?

No! We can cancel many meetings, walk in many gardens, and even smell the flowers…and still have no memory of it unless….

My insight is that in order to smell the flowers we need to see them first, to be aware of their existence and beauty, and for that we need to turn our eyes outward. That will happen when we stop the brain from totally monopolizing our awareness.

We need to slow our minds. We need to control our minds rather than be controlled by them.

We need to move from the brain to the heart.

This last point needs explaining: The brain has left and right sides to it. The sides argue with each other. The right side is very liberal, creative, risk taking. The left side is detail-oriented, risk-averse, conservative. They can spend days, years, arguing with each other about what to do and leaving you bewildered. You will act because you have to, but you will be acting full of doubts and thus pregnant with anxiety and worry.

When you listen to your heart it is like being in love. There is no answer to the question “why?” When you make a decision “with all your heart,” there is no doubt, no anxiety, no worry. You feel at peace with your decision.

Granted you should start thinking with your brain; do your due diligence on the subject. But end your internal debate with your heart. To make a final decision let your heart speak.

Who fights who!

Was searching for a new front (spoiler)? the thing in front of the car... ah yes.. the kit.. anyway, to make car more fierce.

1. Searched for "bmw singapore"

Then the bmw singapore result came out.

OOH... Mercedes was fighting with them for Google Ads.. in fact, fighting so well, that they are at horizontal premium level.

2. Searched for "mercedes singapore"

Oughta be fun.

Hmm... the guys that BMW contracted, clearly was not so efficient to fight for top spot or any spot on "mercedes singapore".

3. Searched for "audi singapore"

Mercedes and BMW didnt think much of them. Not worth even competing.

Audi probably thinks: why should we spend on google ads for our own brand?

hahahah

===

P.s.: this is tongue-in-cheek, and only represents instantaneous shots at that precise moment from my computer. Any half-baked google SEO geek will know that this can all be changed in a nano-second.

No malice intended to anyone; neither mercedes, audi, or bmw fans. hahah.

When do I take Profit in my Trade?

One of the key challenges new traders face when they get a great trade is:

"HOW LONG DO I KEEP MY TRADE???"

The natural instinct is to grab the few dollars and run, because we are always hard-wired to survive. The other less natural, but prevalent opposite is to let it run forevveeerrrrrrrr.....

Now, in our advance segment (not that we charge you extra! ;) it's all-in-the-cost), you learn about using 3 day pivot points.

These two examples are reflections of the same market move - the GBP Sell off.

Now, when it hit that key RED LINE. That is the point we take our profits and GO! Simply because it is also the same GREY LEVEL for both our pairs.

I personally think that the market would move about 30% more in a jagged fashion (that's for another class), but I would still take it once it hits that GREY LEVEL.

Why?

It is the EASIEST phase of the money to make.

Always go for the easy bits, and enjoy the rest of your time!

P.s.: If it is in free-fall in between, you should never take out the trade! It is supposed to run!

====

Coming UP!!

Our 3 Day Pivot Point System will be up on sale, together with MT4 coding at a ridiculously low price. Its almost just like charging you for labour only!
I don't know how long it would be on offer, but WATCH for this space, and grab it while it lasts!

* It is suitable only for people with some trading experience.

* Learn where to place your stops
* Identify dead zones
* Mark out best value returns
* Warning signs to stop you from entering trades

Be Warned! - This is a sports car, i.e. you need to have basic trading education, but this is your SUPER racing tyres. It gets you anywhere faster, sharper and safer!

Look out for it!

Awesome Marketing!

I received this email. This is absolutely awesome marketing!

You have always been protected by American Express' limited liability policy

"American Express has always believed that it is our responsibility to stand behind our Cardmembers, and in these uncertain economic times that has never been more important.

As highlighted by the recent media coverage and discussions of the consumers' liability on fraudulent purchases made on their cards, I wanted to reassure you that American Express takes any fraudulent usage of its card products very seriously and we have in place policies and systems for the protection of our Cardmembers."

"[all]our Platinum Charge Cards and Centurion Cards ... enjoy zero dollar liability"

Yes, at times, they have nonsense policies. But you've to hand it to them, every time when it comes to the crux, they pull it through. Sometimes, involves speaking to a manager, but it gets through!

awesome awesome marketing.

Waking Up Early Is a Waste of Time. Read Why!

Waking Up Early Is a Waste of Time

Long time ago, when I first started to adopt successful lifestyles habits, long before Lifehack became a fancy term; the first thing you will see on every blog is: “Every successful person sleeps very little”.

They will tell you that Tony Robbins sleeps only 4 hours a day, and he’s running a $1billion conglomerate.

Bill Gates probably sleeps much less.

Every tom, dick and harry CEO who looks 5 hours.

In fact, many self-made people like to establish their success worth by the number of hours they work a day; or rather the resulting number of hours a day.

When we were young, you were told that: eat and sleep generally makes you a pig. And everyone knows that the only successful pig in the business is Porky Pig.

===================

A newbie like me figured if I slept less, I would be fresher everyday and do more!

===================

That began my quest to sleep less and have more energy.

…. Started to eat low-carbo foods

…. Sleep at the right cycle hours

…. Disciplined myself to wake up and sleep

…. Bought an insanely expensive e-book on sleep research

=====================

I didn’t get more successful

======================

I woke up more energetic after working at it for a couple of months, but did I get more successful.

No.

Unless, you count now being an “expert” on sleep research.

After awhile, I started doing lots of other “fun” stuff, and filled my day.

I now was awake for longer, doing more fun stuff, but still not more successful.

And the dreaded thing comes along .. busy-ness for busy-ness sake.

Say that out loud…. Busi-ness comes to mind yea…

80% of self-employed people; small business owners, insurance agents, real estate agents and sales people are spending all their time running their busi-ness!

By the way, employed people busy themselves with other things, like an insanely neat house, or endless hobbies.

Can you imagine if you had more waking hours!!

You’ll be busier, more tired, and at some point, frustrated at running but getting nowhere!

Do you know anyone in this state right now?

==============

Of course, I started sleeping more

==============

After the realisation, I started sleeping more, and I’m sure you did too.

Why tire my body for no reason?

=============

Then, over night, I learnt powerful sleep

=============

1 Year ago, I woke up one day and say, “I’ve to watch every energy source, and sleep my best”. And the next day, it happened.

What was the secret?

Success.

Success gives your body a goal.

I am now running 4 companies, training to be a lifeguard, learning the piano, publishing a best-selling book, going on holidays with my family, and sleep much less, yet with more energy.

Without a goal that is aligned with your soul, your body will protect itself from unnecessary work. That is the natural element.

It will ask itself, why am I caring about nutrition, since I don’t use my current levels to the maximum anyway?

Why am I caring about sleep, when I don’t use make ground breaking strides with the hours I have right now?

Music to the Ears - A Lesson on Perserverance

I've finally gotten my hymm to sound almost like a hymm, except for the bits of lag here and there... think of it like.. bandwidth choking!

I'm pretty happy because I've no formal piano training and I somehow managed to make this Eflat Hymm sound vaguely familiar!

Key Facts

* Took 3 months
* 10 minutes a day
* Sounded like crap for 1 month. Just kept at it.
* Didnt stress myself on the outcome.
* Only focused on doing it 10 minutes a day.

I've been really busy (as most of you know), but I also wanted to play this song. So, I decided that every day, I sure put a few minutes into practicing it. I was absolutely sure that even if I didnt have energy to concentrate fully, I can still make it work.

If a little dripping droplet of water on the same spot, can create a crater in a cement floor; anything can be achieved with consistent effort (however small).

EVEN if you don't think there is improvement, keep on going at it, and somehow it WILL become right. Your mind will find its way out.

You only lose when you stop!

Drinking on the Rooftop of Asia

Sawadee Krup,

Just a few quick pictures to make all you people envy the wonderful drinks i'm having at the rooftop of Asia!

haha. seriously, i landed with a throbbing headache, and the taxi "uncle" from the airport wanted to show that his 10 year old car can still speed.... reminded me of the song .. "Don't write me off just yet". ... at the moment, I was missing my car... and asking myself. "Why did I save that THB1000 for a taxi instead of the limousine"?

However, fear not ... Banyan Tree Bangkok managed to pry away from me many extra 1000s THBs before the sun has set on this vibrant city.

Grumbles aside.

Its beautiful to end your day with drinks at the top of the sky.

See you soon!!

If your office is near Bradell/ Bartley Road, you've to support these "economy rice" guys!

The food is fantastic, and cheap! Everything here, plus the tabao is for 2, exactly the same. All in is $11!

Spoon Bending!

I've been looking at this bent fork and spoon in front of me like forever...

Some time back, someone said I should try spoon bending.

So, after some edging, decided to give it a go.

Its essentially pretty fun, and the outcome is similar to board breaking, arrow bending, fire walking.

It gives you an alternative perception of what can and cannot be done.

However, many people get addicted to the next big thing ... (oh yeah, include in above list .. glass walking too) ...

You life's fulfillment is a measure of all the small details you took time out to master and overcome, not just the fanciful ones!

Have an outstanding life Today!

Oneness University Fiji - Day 3 and Day 4

Day 3 & Day 4

These two days were spent in SUFFERING!

.... but.... for a good purpose!

Your relationship with suffering is what defines your level of fulfillment in your life!

*skip Oneness certification details*

... and jump straight to the part....

of awesome beauty in Savusavu, Fiji!

Coming to Savusavu is already a healing process on its own, for any busy city slicker. I took a walk along the grass verge straight after the Fijian quick rain pour.

Looking at the grass blades, brings you to another world within yourself and connects you with this world we call Nature.

Venturing further down the verge, leads you to flat waters that lap off your foot.

It is almost impossible not to fall in love with yourself, and your world!

Tomorrow is about enjoying yourself!

Oneness University Fiji - Day 2

Day 2

I touched down Savusavu early in the morning after dragging my jet-lagged body out from the hotel bed in Nadi.

The flight into Savusavu was amazing* (more on that below), you can practically feel the magic of the place, and that's probably why Tony (Tony Robbins) makes it his home, together with his beautiful resort, Namale.

Landing into Savusavu is a miracle in 2 senses, because 1) you really understand what is said by: "every plane landing is a controlled crash", 2) the place exudes a magic that is rare to describe.

It even makes the crazy 24 hour flight-wait-flight-wait-flight-wait-flight sequence worth it.

"Half way into the flight, the pilot of this tiny twin propellor plane takes a nice leisure yawn, turns back and gives a big wide smile to the 4 passengers behind... Then he reaches into his bag, and takes out a huge 1000 page book, and starts reading it and pointing to the dials in front of him.... *the horror of horrors!*gasp* this guy can't fly!"

The drive from the airport to Wasa Wasa / University Lodge was quick, albeit made quicker by the ever fun and lively Billy.

Its "Day 1" of the process, and I came in just in time for GURU Singh!

Yoga Teacher Extraordinaire.

Now, he is no ordinary Guru.

this Guru Rocks.

If you have no fancy for Yoga, its because you've never sat in a Guru Singh session!

More about him tomorrow.....

Travelling to Oneness University, Fiji

This is really a rough outline till I find the time to piece everything together!

====

Day 1

Evening flight on SQ (9pm) flight to reach Brisbane at a nice beautiful 6.00 am!

Breakfast on the flight was really bad, and really not worth the waking up. Fresh coffee roasts, and a steak breakfast greets you eagerly just at the exit to Brisbane immigration.

The next flight to Nadi (Nandi), the "flight centre" for Fiji, was at 11am. Ambitiously, I figured I could do work, which I was quite right, till the very last hour.

By then, I simply fell asleep, while waiting for the flight!

The minute I got on board the Pacific Air flight, I knocked out.

Woke up for a fleeting few seconds, realised I was air-borne and knocked out again.

*note to self* when flying multi-changes, fly business to sleep better.

Landed at Nadi, Fiji, was beautiful... abit like Bali at some glances, but BULA! nonetheless!

whee... closer to Oneness!

Shuttle from Tanao International Hotel, came at a zippy speed!

Reached my room at 7pm, had a dinner thing in the cafe, soaked in the beautiful sunset and fell asleep...

the travelling was merely taking a PAUSE.

Next morning, up at 6a.m., welcome to Sunrise Fiji, and Fiji time (thats a whole story on its own)!

Its hopping on to another plane!

.. and the story continues! .. a tale of snoopy planes.. and harrowing mid-air adventures!

Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi - Chiang Mai

I call this my heaven on earth.

one stay here and it will be yours too...

6 Reasons Why I Love this place

1) Its Near!

2) Its 60 acres of being lost in this wonderland.

3) Service, Activity experience unbelievable.

4) Cheap. Compared to other havens.

5) The weather is wonderful.

6) The Ayurvedic team is Legendary, in this part of the world.

I especially love it in June / July, when you get their Seasonal Offers, ridiculously low rates, and occupancy is low as well.

You get a slight drizzle now and then, but otherwise wonderful.

We'll let the pictures speak for themselves ...

Exquisite Thai Food at this 200 yr old restaurant where the King of Thailand, Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana have dined.

Best Time to Go!

Oct - Nov is the best time to go in terms of weather!
- Also the most crowded and expensive

June - July is great if you like the place to yourself,
and Seasonal Offers! i.e. ridiculous pricing. Light drizzle and cool weather.

 Getting There

This is easy! Hop on to SilkAir to Chiang Mai, short 2.5 hour flight.
Get the hotel to pick you up for a small usd30 fee.
Yes, you could get it cheaper hopping into a cab. But, trust me, this is part of the experience!
You get a choice of cars from E200, Land Rover, to stretch Mercs.

$$ Budget

Airtickets range from $300 - $500 (depending on promotion).
Rooms start at USD 300 (for seasonal offers) and all the way up.
Even the most "basic" rooms are wonderful. Actually there is no such thing as a basic room in Dhara Dhevi!

Summary

Heaven on Earth. You have to try this at least once in your life! It is not the same as having been to "Chiang Mai". Dhara Dhevi is a destination in itself!

The Heritage Hotels, Kenya

This post is about a chain of hotels in Kenya, called The Heritage Group. I love their website, because (in a bid to promote all their properties) they have an overview of all the beautiful places to go in Kenya!

Now, if I'm travelling SO far, I would like to visit all the extremes, from the flood plains to the mountain tops! Most safari/ african websites are property specific, this one tells you all the great things to do at each locality where they also have a fantastic resort!

Without further ado, I shall let the pictures speak for themselves!

Remember, it is not at the same resort, it is rather a menu of what you can experience in East Africa!

A quiet day by the river...

The Rushing Waves!

A wonderfully surreal place to wake up to.

Plan your Kenya trip via their group website!

Best Time to Go!
From what I read up, there is something at all times of the year!

Getting There
This part was slightly tricky. It will have to be done in 2 phases.

Phase 1: Fly to Kenya
SQ, EK, QR, MH, KQ, TG from SIN to NBO (Nairobi) (Approx 14 Hrs with 1 stop).

Phase 2: Kenya to Resorts
See "Getting There" link in each of the specific resorts

$$ Budget
Phase 1 Ticket ranges from: $2,100 to $5,900 - Economy
Rooms are approx sgd 200 to 400 p/night (full board + more) depending on the resort you choose.
Contact the sales at heritage group directly, because I think you would have difficulty finding a local tour agent.

Summary

Great site to start my trip planning all over Kenya! Used to think it was mainly safari plains.

Ahilya Fort - Indore via New Delhi

I saw this article in the recent Travel & Leisure - Feb 2009. Absolutely love the view and quaint-ness of the whole place. It looks like it is quite possible to just run away from reality in this place for the next 5 days.

As quoted by Travel & Leisure:

"From the ruins of a 242-year-old fortress on a sacred river in the town of Maheshwar, India, the remote 14-room Ahilya Fort is reimagined as a quiet, all-inclusive retreat."

The view is breathtaking!

Just the thought of sleeping in this ... is like travelling to a different world..

© Travel & Leisure Magazine - Feb 2009

I can just picture the vibrancy and the shift in life's vibrations staying a few days in the Fort!

Best Time to Go!
(courtesy of Travel & Leisure Magazine - Feb 2009)
October through March
Maheshwar is pleasantly warm and dry.

Getting There
(courtesy of Travel & Leisure Magazine - Feb 2009)
Fly:
Jet Airways from Delhi(1.5hrs)/ Mumbai(1.25hrs) to Indore.
Hotel can arrange for transfer, or it will be a 2.5hr taxi ride.

$$ Budget
U.S.$520 p/night, for doubles, with full board and excursions.
Sounds good, you will just have to add in:
(i) flight from New Delhi/ Mumbai to Indore
(ii) SIN - Mumbai/ New Delhi

Summary

I reckon this would be a wonderful place to spend 3 - 5 days, just living at a different beat to city life. Wonderful alone or with a special someone!

Why this blog?

I love travel, but I'm so busy living life (a.k.a. working), that when I take time out for the trip, it must meet a few tenets. Now, simple as these tenets are, it is not easy to find such information on the humongously huge World Wide Web, despite Google (sorry folks, I love the stuff you do, but this one's lacking).

Hence, I started saving to my FAVOURITES weblinks, all those places that I love. Again, Google has let me down, because I havent got a Phd from Stanford to figure how to export their bookmarks.

BUT, a bright spark came about (maybe I do qualify for that Stanford Phd after all!), I could use Google's Blogger and put up stuff I love, so that when I want to travel, I can refer to it, and in the mean time, other people can post their opinions here too!

So, here we go!

A Couple of Tenets to the creation of this blog:

1. TIME - For the "I wanna change the world" super individual, TIME is more important than money (The magazine included too). Thus, you will see that on the listings column, we use days as categories rather than geographic locations of the world. The "days" factor includes travel time. So, you can straight away see your options, when you only have a couple of days on hand.

2. DEEP EXPERIENCES - Yes, we pay more for these, but again, for the "I wanna change the world" super individual: When I REST, I wanna REST DEEPLY. When I do ADVENTURE, I wanna take it to the LIMITS. By the time, you have travelled the world, few cities or beach fronts excite you in general. The specific DEEP EXPERIENCE must be lived up.

3. DISCOUNTS, (BONUS) - Just because I am a financially-able "I wanna change the world" super individual, it doesn't mean I have to be ripped off. So, there is also a special mention to get good deals (of course, if it costs too much time, then it is not worth it!)

Finally, add in YOUR own experiences, and lets make this fun!

Cheers,

Winston
